Sweetie-licious to Compete in Meijer LPGA Celebrity Chef Cookoff

Sweetie-licious to Compete in Meijer LPGA Celebrity Chef Cookoff

Grand Rapids, MI - Sweetie-licious Bakery Café is one of three local bakeries who will be competing for top honors at the Meijer LPGA Classic Celebrity Chef Cookoff on Friday, July 24 at 6:30 pm at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. Guests will cast their vote for their favorite pastry creation along with a panel of judges that includes nationally-acclaimed celebrity chef Mario Batali and culinary expert Gail Simmons.

Joining Sweetie-licious owner Linda Hundt for this first-ever competition is Cakabakery’s Jason Kakabaker and Shelby Kibler from Field & Fire. Hundt is debuting an exclusive new pie created especially for this event, Beautiful Blueberry Basil Key Lime Pie. This decadent new dessert is a combination of two Sweetie-licious favorites, the award-winning Betsie’s Key Lime Pie and Farmette’s Blueberry Basil Cream Pie.

In addition to the competition, Batali and Simmons will each prepare an appetizer and main course during the evening. Tickets to the event are $100 and available for purchase online at meijerLGPAclassic.com/chef-cookoff/. Proceeds benefit the Meijer Simply Give program that restocks the shelves of food pantries across the Midwest.

“I am honored to be a part of this notable event for such a worthy cause, and am pleased as pie to be competing alongside such celebrated chefs,” said Sweetie-licious owner Linda Hundt, who has three Michigan locations including DeWitt, Grand Rapids Downtown Market and Gaslight Village in East Grand Rapids. “I always enjoy creating new taste sensations and I hope people will love this new pie.”

Sweetie-licious was named #1 Michigan’s Best Pie in 2014 after a statewide search by MLive newspapers, and is now the exclusive pie provider for premier specialty retailer Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Hundt was honored her pies were selected to be showcased as a featured item at the recent Williams-Sonoma national holiday press event in New York City.
