February Sunday Dinners

Welcome to our Sunday Dinner and Celebrations page! Our mission is to celebrate home-life so that we all will continue the rich tradition of  family dinners in our homes. We are thrilled to share our treasured library of recipes and traditions to help make our lives meaningful, our homes happy, and our palates joyous!

These dinners can be served based on you and/or your family's personality – have groups over, or just your nuclear family; use paper plates or your best china; serve dinner right after church or later in the day. Do whatever works for your family. We are here to make Sunday dinners easy, fun, and delicious for all of you, and to make Sunday Dinners a part of your own family's tradition.

Testamonials

Just had your Mac and Cheese for dinner tonight. I followed the recipe to the letter and it was absolutely delicious. It was easy to make and oh so very good!!! I did have it on my one visit to your establishment, so I wanted to try it at home. I am certainly glad that I did. Thanks again for the wonderful recipe!!! -- Peggy

Celebrating the Season...

Holiday Ideas

I think Valentine's Day is meant to celebrate all the people you love, so why not have a group of your favorite folks over to celebrate the day of love? Make it easy and festive with pretty pink and red valentine decorations and paper products. Make place cards with retro valentines you can pick up at antique stores. Put lots of pink and red in the menu too – make raspberry citrus muffins, put strawberries in your salad and be sure to serve cherry fudge or strawberry cheesecake ice cream with the wacky cake! Our menu makes for a perfect romantic dinner too – add some china, a bottle of wine, some Marvin Gaye or Frank Sinatra music, and your sweet love dinner is complete!

Have a Valentine party for your own family on Valentine's day.  Make your own valentine mailbox with old valentines, pink tissue paper, ribbon etc., and have everyone make valentines (be creative) for each other and place them in the box sometime before the holiday. Take turns reading them aloud after dinner along with telling each other specific reasons why you love each other. Our family has had the same valentine mailbox for twenty years!  I keep all the old valentines and we all enjoy re-reading them to each other every year!  It is sentimental and fun way to make sure everyone feels loved in the family!

Seasonal Ideas

Here in the Midwest, February usually presents us with snow, so why not host a sledding or skating party before dinner at a nearby hill or rink. It is SO much fun to play in the snow with family and/or friends, no matter your age! Have folks back for a warm and comforting Sunday dinner, buffet- style, to make the day perfectly lovely!

Keeping it Simple

After your delicious dinner, build a fire in the fireplace and put a puzzle together after the dishes are cleared. It makes for a perfect and slow-paced winter afternoon.

February Memories...

"One of my favorite February memories has to do with Valentine's Day. For dinner on Feb 14th. my mom used to make us all her "Red Dinner". She started out our meal by serving us cherry jello with fruit cocktail in it. Next was pot roast cooked in red wine and oven roasted red-skin potatoes. She also served spiced apple rings (a favorite) and pickled beets (also a favorite). For dessert she served cherry pie with cherry ice cream on top! My mom even put red decorating sugar into my milk so I had something pink to drink. A perfect meal and a perfect memory!"
