Sunday Dinners - July

Welcome to our Sunday Dinner and Celebrations page! Our mission is to celebrate home-life with monthly exclusive and delicious Sweetie-licious recipes and ideas, in that we all will continue the rich tradition of lovely family dinners in our homes. We are thrilled to share our treasured library of recipes and traditions to help make our lives meaningful, our homes happy, and our palates joyous!

August brings the end of summer, the last leisurely days of the season before we are back to school and the regular routines of life. Celebrate these days with family and friends!! A Backyard Bash can be casual and easy, just an excuse to have people over and have fun. It can be a simple night with immediate family, sitting outside on the deck, hanging out, and watching the kids run around. A great time to set up the volleyball net and play a friendly game of ball! Or take it up a notch, invite friends and neighbors to share in the fun.

There is nothing better than summer, as there seems to be a contagious feeling in the air like no other season – that of summer freedom! I think it takes us back to being a kid on summer vacation, where every day was whatever we wanted to make it – riding bikes, playing ball, running through sprinklers, drinking Kool-aid, and simply playing all day long! I believe that summer brings out the childlike magic in our souls and ignites our playful, energetic personas; what a lovely spell our summer brings!!! So get out the fishing poles, the water slides, and the barbeque, and let us indulge in the magic of summer!

July Menu

Our menu for July is deliciously perfect for special family gatherings and/or for having a more intimate meal for just a few!
I recommend preparing as much of the meal the day before so you can relax and get ready for the grill out with an eased mind and happy, hungry heart!  Be sure to set the scene with patriotic blankets, tablecloths, and paper products for a slice of the ultimate Americana holiday!

Celebrating the Season...

Seasonal ideas

Gather the kids, family and friends together for an Old-fashioned Patriotic Bike Parade! Buy some red, white and blue pinwheels, crepe paper and such, and have a grand time decorating bikes, strollers etc. for the big event. Don't forget streamers on handlebars and some patriotic music blasting from your phone to set the ambience. Plan your fun “Freedom Trail” route for the neighborhood and/or country roads and start peddling!

Keeping It Simple...

Swim, Swim Swim!!! This month's menu can easily be taken to the beach, lake, or river, as grilling by the water after a long day in the sun is an absolute perfect way to make your day extra special! Be sure to take additional coolers so everything stays epic cold to avoid spoilage. So throw your floaties in the car, and get to the water's edge to start splashing in the summer fun!

July Memories...

As a kid I anticipated the Fourth of July like no other summer day. First of all because it was my mom's birthday and the whole family got together to celebrate not only Independence Day but also her day as well. My hometown also celebrated the Fourth in real style... with a huge parade, a large carnival down at the lake front, and of course fireworks blasted off on the pier out in the lake (everyone went to the beach to watch them, picnic, swim, and build bonfires.) Us kids would decorate our wagons and weave crepe paper in the wheels of our bikes for the kids parade, held the evening of the 3rd. Old fire trucks led the kids parade with sirens blasting, what fun!...and what great memories! -- Gail
