Sweetie Staff Recipes

From the kitchen of Sweetie-licious...

There is nothing more comforting than an old, worn and stained recipe card. You can truly feel the baked love through the faded handwriting of mothers long ago.

Spicy Barbeque Sauce

This is the perfect sauce to slather on burgers, chicken, and ribs!

  • ¾ C. finely chopped onion
  • ½ C butter
  • ¾ C. catsup
  • ¾ C. water
  • 1/3 C. fresh lemon or lime juice
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. prepared yellow mustard
  • 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. pepper

Cook onion in butter till tender, but not browned. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer for at least 15 minutes. Store remaining sauce in the refrigerator.

Ice Cream Snowballs

This quick and easy dessert is perfect for a party or a family dinner at home.

  • ½ gallon of good quality vanilla bean or coconut ice cream
  • 1 14 oz pkg of shredded coconut – roughly chopped
  • Clear edible glitter

Make ice cream balls with large ice cream scoop, making as round as scoops as possible. Roll or sprinkle with coconut to completely cover ice cream. Sprinkle entire ball with edible glitter. Place them on foil lined baking pan and freeze until ready to serve. Serve in small bowls with edges of bowls sprinkled with powdered sugar. Serve with hot fudge or chocolate peppermint sauce on side,

Fresh Raspberry Cream Trifle

This decadent raspberry treat makes the perfect, cool summer dessert. Not only simple to make, but amazing tasting!

  • 1 (7 oz.) jar marshmallow creme
  • 1 C. sour cream
  • 1/8 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple, undrained
  • Juice of 1 lemon + zest
  • 1 angel food cake, torn into 1” cubes
  • 3 C. fresh raspberries, divided
  • ¼ C. sliced almonds

Place marshmallow crème, sour cream, and almond extract in a very large mixing bowl. Mix well. Stir in pineapple, fresh lemon juice and zest, and 2 C. raspberries. Add cake pieces and mix gently. Place mixture, in layers, in a serving dish. Top with 1 C. raspberries, whipped cream, and almonds. Chill until ready to serve. (Make and serve the same day!)
